Finnestad Ancestry

Burdette Louis Finnestad, wife Alice Helen (Barnes) and their two sons, Roger and David were living in Bonus township, Boone county, Illinois at the time of the 1950 US Census. Their entries on the census are located on lines 5 - 8.   Burdette was employed as a farmer.    Burdette Finnestad was the son of Mary (Kurth) and Oliver Finnestad, grandson of Caroline (Quitno) and Ole (Olson) Finnestad Jr. and the great grandson of Mari (Iversdatter Nord-Skaar) and Ole (Olson) Finnestad Sr.

Burdette, the eldest son of Mary (Kurth) and Oliver Finnestad was born July 11, 1912 in Lyneville township, Ogle county, Illinois.    Alice was born February 20, 1918 in Esmond, DeKalb county, Illinois to Helen (Gustafson) and George Barnes.    Alice and Burdette were married May 6, 1939 in Creston, Ogle county, Illinois. Burdette died May 27, 1984 in Belvidere and Alice died September 24 1970 in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois. Burdette was the grandson of Caroline (Quitno) and Ole Finnestad Jr....

Oliver and Mary's eldest son, Burdette Louis Finnestad is buried at the Belvidere Cemetery, located at 1121 N Main St , Belvidere , Boone County, Illinois. Oliver and Mary's 4th son, Oliver Kurth Finnestad is buried at the Trinity Memorial Gardens, located at 14712 E. Twombly Road, Hillcrest, Ogle County, Illinois. This is a newer cemetery located on the northeast side of Rochelle. I have not been to either cemetery, so I do not have photos of their headstones.
