Finnestad Ancestry

Ole and Mari Finnestad's grandson, Ole Lewis Vallem was born April 29, 1875 to Rachel (Finnestad) and Lewis Vallem in Lee County, Illinois. Ole Vallem married Sophia Halverson in 1910 in Lee County, Illinois.    Ole died August 19, 1940 in Marengo, McHenry county, Illinois and is buried at the Marengo City Cemetery. Here is a copy of the draft registration of Ole and Mari Finnestad's grandson, Ole L Vallem. Ole was a farmer living in Rochelle, Illinois at the time this was completed on September 12, 1918. Also mentioned in the document was his wife, Sophia. Ole was the son of Rachel (Finnestad) and Lewis Vallem.

Revisiting a document I posted a couple of years ago before I knew Ole and Mari Finnestad's daughter Rachel had married Lewis Vallem, I came across two of their children, Peter and Ole. Peter Vallem was 15 (though the document indicates he was 14) when he was confirmed on May 14, 1889. Ole Vallem was also 15 when he was confirmed on June 1, 1890.

In 1930, Ole and Mari Finnestad's grandson, Ole Vallem lived in Marengo Township, McHenry County, Illinois, along with Ole's wife, Sofia and their children, Rosabelle, Gertrude, Violet, Lila, Ole Jr and Ella. Ole was the 2nd son born to Rachel Vallem and husband Lewis.

In 1920, Ole and Mari's grandchild, Ole Vallem was living in Dement Township, Ogle Illinois with his wife Sophia (Sofie), and their children Rosabell, Gertrude, Violet, Lila, Ole Jr and nephew Perry who was the son of Ole's older brother, Peter Vallem. Ole Vallem was the second eldest son of Rachel and Lewis Vallem.

Another previous post , I did not know at the time, but both Peter and brother Ole Vallem were listed on the same Calvary Lutheran church confirmation ledger as 3 of their cousins, Elizabeth Andreas Knutson, Rasmus and Bert Finnestad. Peter Vallem was 14 when he was confirmed May 19, 1889. Ole Vallem was 15 when he was confirmed June 1, 1890. Unfortunately, there were no photos provided by the church until 1897.
