Finnestad Ancestry

In 1940 there were different branches of the family living in Bee county in Texas.   Here is the 1940 US Census for  Ole Travland, Peter Travland, Otto Travland and Ben Travland. All were living in Normanna, Justice precinct 8, Bee county, Texas.    Ole Travland was living alone and is listed on line 60.      Ole was employed as a farmer. Ole was the son of  Iverdine (Olsdatter Finnestad) and Lewis (Peterson) Travland and the grandson of Mari (Iversdatter Nordskår) and Ole (Olson) Finnestad. Peter Travland and family are listed on lines 61 - 65.   Peter was living with wife Blanche (Hallberg) and daughter Alice.   Also living at the same residence was Peter's father, John Otto Travland and Peter's brother, Odin.     Peter was also employed as a farmer and Odin was employed at a cafe. Here is the 1920 US Census for Ole and Mari Finnestad's grandsons, Ole and Peter Travland, living in Bee County, Texas. Peter Travland, wife Hannah and their son Willard had moved into the home of Peter's older brother, Ole along with Ole's son Lawrence.     This census indicates that Ole had divorced his wife, Susan (Sikes). Ole and Peter were the children of Iverdine (Finnestad) and Lewis Joseph Peterson Travland

Here is the 1910 US Census for Ole and Mari Finnestad's grandson, Ole John Travland, wife Susan Eola (Sikes) and their son, Lawrence, living in Bee County, Texas. Ole and Susan married in 1907 and I've not been able to locate the 1900 Census for Ole who may have been living as a boarder with another family that year. Ole was the first born child of Iverdine (Finnestad) and Lewis Joseph Peterson Travland.

Continuing from yesterday's post, here is the 1880 US Census taken June 21st.  I believe this census pertains to Ole Jr and sister Mary Finnestad (line 7 & 8), living in the village of Malta, DeKalb County, Illinois. The 1880 Census documents the age at last birthday prior to June 1, 1880.    Ole was born June 4, 1856 and Mary was born January 19, 1859.    Ole's age would be 23 and Mary's age would be 21.    Since Ole would be 24 a few days after the 'requirement' and it looks like they indicated Mary was 21, I'm probably on the right track that this is the correct Oleson siblings who have not yet adopted Finnestad as their last name. The name that is unclear is that of their nephew.   It looks like the first name and middle initial is "Ole J".    The last name is difficult to read, but starts with a "T".  After looking through the list of potential relatives, Ole and Mary's sister Ive...
