Finnestad Ancestry

Here is a photo* from 1962 of Ole and Mari Finnestad's granddaughter Evelyn (Finnestad) Richardson and family. Pete Svetica, back of Rick Johnson's head, Evelyn (Finnestad) Richardson & Carshon (Richardson) Johnson & "friend". Pete Svetica was the husband of Caroline and Ole Finnestad Jr's youngest daughter, Frances, who probably snapped this photo. Carshon was the daughter of Carrie Evelyn (Finnestad) and Charles Richardson and the granddaughter of Caroline (Quitno) and Ole Finnestad Jr. Rick was the son of Carshon and Norman Johnson. * Photo provided by Ole and Mari Finnestad's great great granddaughter, Jill (McKay) Clinton.

Another class confirmation class with Ole and Mari Finnestad's descendants was in 1911.    When I originally posted two years ago , I didn't know of the Sanderson family link. Ole and Mari's granddaughter, Carrie Evelyn Finnestad is seated in the middle row, 3rd from the left.  Carrie's parent's were Caroline (Quitno) and Ole Finnestad Jr. Ole and Mari's great grandson, Lawrence Alvin Sanderson is seated next to Carrie on the left.  Lawrence's parents were Ellen Marie/Mary (Vallem) and Seward Sanderson, his grandparents were Rachel (Finnestad) and Lewis Vallem.

Here is a photo * of Evelyn ('Carrie' or Caroline) Finnestad probably taken around 1920. Here is a photo* of Charles Alexander Richardson, probably taken around 1917. (I'm guessing as to the year based upon what looks like a uniform - he served in WW I.) I had previously posted the 1900 US Federal Census which listed Ole Sr & Mari living between daughter Rachel and her children and Ole Jr & Caroline and family. On the page (above) where Ole and Caroline's daughters, (Carrie) Evelyn and Lillian were listed as "boarders" in the Oftedal household, you will see at the top of the census document, Rachel and Lewis' eldest son Peter, wife Lena and son Lawrence living next to Rachel and Lewis' daughter, Isabel Josephine, husband Ole Hall along with their son Oral and Ole's father, Peter. The above photo was taken of the confirmation class of 1911 at Calvary Lutheran Church on Perry Road, Lee County, Illinois. Carrie Evelyn Finnestad is seated in the middle row, 3rd from the left. To her right is Reverend Eittreim. She was confirmed August 27, 1911. In attendance was her father, Ole Jr Finnestad. Carrie was 14 at the time of her confirmation. She is the daughter of Ole and Caroline Finnestad and the granddaughter of Ole Sr and Mari Finnestad. Note the spelling of Eveline, which is either a spelling error or another way of spelling Evelyn.

Here is the baptism record from Calvary Lutheran Church in Lee, Illinois for Marie Alice and Carrie Evelyn Finnestad, (#18 & #19) daughters of Ole and Caroline Finnestad, and Charlot Finnestad, daughter of Bert and Ceclia Finnestad. All three are the grandchildren of Ole and Mari Finnestad Sr. Marie Alice Finnestad was born June 24, 1893 and baptized June 20, 1897. Carrie Evelyn Finnestad was born September 1, 1896 and baptized June 20, 1897. Charlotte Finnestad was born February 12, 1898 and baptized April 10th, 1898. In attendance for Marie's baptism were her parents and Mr and Mrs Christopher Quitno, possibly Caroline's grandparents and 3 other unknown persons. In attendance for Carrie's baptism were her parents and Mr and Mrs Jacob Quitno, unknown relation to Caroline and Carrie's aunt and uncle, Bert and Celia Finnestad.
